Born in Liverpool, 1923, my father became a draughtsman and engineer who worked for Imperial Chemical Industries. He fought in World War II in Italy and India, with the Irish Guards and the Black Watch (RHR) and the 11th Sikh Regiment. A few years after World War Two, he married Joyce Mildred Blackie, a nurse, born in Runcorn, Cheshire.

Stuart and Joyce started a family in Liverpool and later moved to Bristol, Cardiff and Southampton.
Born in Liverpool, 1894. A chemist, later a teacher. Fought in both world wars, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Married Lilian Marguerita Legge in 1922.
