Stuart was born at 83 Aigburth Rd, Lark Lane, Liverpool, on 3rd November 1923.

In World War II, Stuart joined the Irish Guards, later the Black Watch, Royal Highland Regiment, attached to 11th Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army.
After the war, Stuart was a draughtsman then a mechanical engineer for ICI. He lived at Heatherdale Rd, Liverpool and 11 The Vineries, Menlove Avenue, Liverpool with his parents, then married Joyce and started a family at Linkside Rd, Liverpool (1950~195?). Then moving to 22 Peterborough Rd, Liverpool ( 195?~1960). After Stuart's parents moved out, the family moved to 11 The Vineries,
